Draft Constitution

- The Club shall be known as Marsh Gibbon Cricket Club (MGCC) and shall be located at The Recreation Ground, Edgcott Road, Marsh Gibbon.
- The objectives of MGCC shall be to provide competitive and friendly cricket for the villagers of Marsh Gibbon, across all ages.
- MGCC and all its’ members shall be governed by the decisions of The Officers of the Club. Decisions made by The Officers shall be binding on all members who shall not have right to appeal any decision made by the Officers in Committee
- The Officers of the Club serving on the Committee are as follows: President, Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Team Captains for 1st and 2nd Teams, Groundsman and non-executive committee members.  There is no limit to the number of non-executive committee members that may stand on committee.  The committee shall meet at intervals no greater than 60 days, subject to an annual meeting schedule prepared each year. There must be at least 5 Officers present for a quorum of Officers to be declared.
- All Officers serving on the committee must resign each year and stand for re-election at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Only members of the Club are entitled to stand for election to any post.
- The Annual General Meeting shall be held every year in October. The Secretary shall advise all members of the club of the date agreed by the committee, no less than 21 days prior to the meeting.
- All voting, elections and ballots shall be open, by show of hands of those present, unless more than half those in attendance request a private vote, in which case a paper ballot shall be held.  In all circumstances only members physically present at the time of election are entitled to vote on any matter. The Chairman shall not be entitled to vote but shall have the casting vote in the event of a tie.
- The Treasurer of the Club shall keep proper and clear account of the Club’s finances and present an annual account to the members at the AGM.  These annual accounts must be audited as accurate and fair by an independent auditor agreed by the Officers.
- All club payments must be authorised by the committee and all cheques must be signed by 2 Officers.
- Membership to the Club shall be admitted through payment of an annual subscription. The subscription levels and values shall be decided by vote at each AGM.
- Only fully paid up members of the Club shall be eligible to play for the Club after May 31st. The committee may give special dispensation under exceptional circumstances.
- Only fully paid up members who are aged 14 years or more on 1st May are eligible to play for a mans’ side in any competition match.
- All members of MGCC must also be members of the Marsh Gibbon Sports and Social Club (MGSSC) and shall receive all the benefits of membership and be subject to all rules of MGSSC.
- The Club shall endeavour to run as many teams as possible, but all teams shall at all times be subject to the constitution and rules of the club.
- No other cricket team shall play at the Recreation Ground under the guise of MGCC.
- No other club may use the facility at the Recreation Ground without the express permission of the committee.
- Should any Officer be unable to continue in their post during the year the committee may appoint an interim person to act until the next AGM, when a new Officer will be appointed in the usual manner.
- Should any elected Officer be considered unfit to hold their post, the President or Chairman may call an Extraordinary General Meeting at which the matter will be raised and resolved. Only the President or Chairman may call an EGM and the matter must be resolved through unanimous verdict, under ballot.
- A Club member who acts in such a fashion as to bring MGCC into disrepute may be expelled by the committee, upon unanimous vote. The member shall have no right to receive refund of their membership, nor shall they have right to appeal against the committees decision.
- Selection of Teams for competitive matches shall be the responsibility of the elected Captains. During the season the Captains confer and shall select sides on the Tuesday prior to the following weekends matches. Players shall be notified within 24 hours of the selection meeting.
- Any amendments, removal or inclusion to this constitution and rules can only be made at Annual General Meeting, or at committee meeting of the Officers when ALL Officers are in attendance.
