MINUTES OF A MEETING OF MARSH GIBBON CRICKET CLUB COMMITTEE HELD ON 6 DECEMBER 2006
 
 
1. Apologies for Absence                          
Apologies were received from Gareth Jones and Carl Needham
 
2. Umpiring
The committee discussed the mailed comments of the absent first team Captain and discussed options.
 
It was suggested that Brian Timms be approached.  (Action: DW)
It was agreed that an ad should be inserted in the Bicester Advertiser and displayed in Tri Sports (Action: SL)
It was suggested that this could be turned into a good local news story and that the local papers should canvassed for interest. (Action: PW)
 
3. Nets
Nets would be arranged for six weeks from 23 Feb to 30 March but this would not be confirmed until January. They would be organized by DJ.  (Action: DJ)
 
The captains would discuss net strategy together but the point 3 b put forward by CN in his memo to reserve nets for MGCC players only was not agreed.  (Action: RC/CN)
 
4. Pre- Season Training
CN’s suggestion was agreed  (Action: CN)
 
5. Friendlies
It was agreed that friendly games were desirable but some doubts were expressed about the Clubs suggested by CN. It was agreed that Gt Horwood would be a good game and DJ undertook to contact Les Fagg at Fringford 1sts to organise a game. (Action: DJ)
Richard Cross would arrange  2nds game with Brill (Action: RC)
and Stuart Leonard would fix some mid week friendlies for the end of April. (Action: SL)
 
6. League Fixtures
A list was distributed by DJ. PW would put the list on line and Captains would reorganise fixtures as necessary (Action: PW/CN/RC)
 
7. Mid week League
No comments. SL to keep up the fine work
 
8. Artificial wicket
Barry Leonard was meeting a company on 7 December to discuss requirements and costs. He would report back for next meeting. (Action: BL)
 
The Committee wondered whether we might find someone to support the club’s expense in this regard. AJ undertook to explore this (Action: AJ)
 
9. Sightscreen Repairs
BL volunteered to research and report on requirements using Terry Rose. He would also organise a painting party in the Spring and Steve Turner might volunteer (Action: BL)
 
10. Portable Net Repairs
DJ would research the cost of replacement nets. (Action: DJ)
 
11. Golf Day
CN had previously organised a successful tournament and was proposing doing so again. This was likely to be in w/c 12 February 2007. (Action: CN)
 
12. Equipment Inventory
It was agreed, as CN suggested that new balls would be required and it was agreed that the Captains would sort this (Action: CN/RC)
 
13. Potential Mini Tour
Matt Mead had originally suggested this and it was proposed that he be asked to consider if he would organise it. SL would contact him about this. (Action: SL)
 
14. Proposed 20/20 Tournament
The committee was enthusiastic about this idea and tentatively agreed on Sunday 1st July as a likely date. It was suggested that this could more realistically become a 10/10 tournament and that two pitches could be prepared. It was agreed to discuss this in more detail at the next meeting
 
15. Trip to Lords
Nick Tyler was the main man on this and AJ agreed to raise it with him again to see if he was still interested in organising it (Action: AJ)
 
16. Vice Captain 2nds
RC reported that he was still undecided. Options in his mind were Nicky Turner, Andy Mason and Stuart Tofts. His first choice would have been Pete Shipperley but he had declined. He would think about it further and weigh the comments of the committee on his options. (Action: RC)
 
17. Date of Next Meeting
The next meeting would be on Thursday 1st February and then the first Thursday in the months of April (5), June (5), August (2), October (4) and December (5).
 
18. Any Other Business
Tea Rotas would be organised by Kim for the 1sts and Tanya for the 2nds.
 
Presentation Evening
Kim and Chris West had offered to explore organising this at the Village Hall. The Committee would hear their report and consider options at the next meeting.
 
Race Night
A date of the 24th was provisionally agreed subject to village hall availability. AJ would explore Nick Tyler’s availability as MC for the night (Action: AJ)
