MINUTES OF A MEETING OF MARSH GIBBON CRICKET CLUB COMMITTEE HELD ON 7th JUNE 2007

Present: P West, C Needham, B Leonard, S Leonard, G Jones, R Cross

1. Apologies for Absence
Apologies were received from Derek Jeacock, Andy Jones and Dave Watkins

2. Minutes of Previous Meeting held on 7th June 2007
These were accepted as a true record.

Matters Arising

3. Presentation Dinner

£200 cheque would be required for the DJ on the night.

4. Treasurer’s Report

Payment was still outstanding for some of the kit that had been ordered at the start of the season.

5. Umpiring

Feedback from the umpires Bob, Barry T and Ron was positive and payments would be organised as requested.

6. Sports Club Meeting

This had still not happened and the document created by MGCC which had been circulated had not been discussed.

7. 10/10 Tournament

Abandoned due to poor weather. The deposit from Gt horwood would be returned and the only expenditure to date had been on the trophy which would be re-used in 2008.

8. Sunday Team

After a couple of false starts – weather and lack of interest a game was organised and actually played against Heyford. The team lost – but at least we should be able to guarantee 2 games for next season!

9. State of the playing field

The issue of the state of the playing field was discussed again – rather than 4 football teams it might even be 6! It was felt to be an issue that the football club needed to take responsibility for. The issue of the extension to the recreation ground is a key elelment in resolving this issue.

10. Any other business

  • The idea of running a single wicket competition was debated to be held at the beginning of September. After much discussion it was felt that it should be for 18 and unders.
  • Selection was discussed with the view that winning was the objective but expectations of the registered players needed to be managed better than this year. The sunday side was seen as key in resolving this matter.
  • Detailed planning for the End of Season do was required.
  • Stats for the end of season do were requiired and would be the responsibility of the Captains. Stu had manaaged to gather much of the historical data but some was still missing.
